We are committed to handling personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
What we collect
We only collect what we genuinely need to help safely. Depending on how you connect with us, that may include:
- Contact details — your name, email, phone number and suburb, when you email us or use a form on this site.
- Service details — the address where help is needed, and anything you tell us about the situation (for example, mobility or access considerations) so our volunteers can help safely and respectfully.
- Volunteer details — your availability, skills and any checks relevant to working at people's homes.
- Donation details — your name and transfer reference, so we can receipt and thank you. Bank details are exchanged directly by email and never published.
A special word about the people we help
Many of the people we serve are seniors or live with disability. Information about them is shared only with the volunteers assigned to their visit, is never published, and is never used for any purpose beyond providing our services. Photos of people or their properties are used only with explicit permission.
How we collect it
Directly from you — by email, through the mail-to forms on this website, by phone, or in person during visits. The forms on this site simply open your own email app; nothing you type is stored on this website or sent to a third-party server.
Why we collect it
- To respond to help requests and arrange volunteer visits safely.
- To coordinate volunteers and match skills to jobs.
- To receipt donations and meet our legal and ACNC reporting obligations.
Who we share it with
Only the people who need it, and never for sale. The coordinator and assigned volunteers see what they need for your visit; regulators such as the ACNC may receive information where the law requires it. That is the full list.
How we protect it
Information is held in access-limited accounts used only by authorised coordinators. We keep personal information only as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law, and then delete or de-identify it.

Access & correction
You may ask at any time to see the personal information we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted. Email info@devicentrix.org with the subject line "Privacy request" and we will respond within a reasonable time — at no charge.

If you believe we have mishandled personal information, please contact us first at info@devicentrix.org so we can put it right. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.
